Ryde has been named as Britain’s property hotspot of the year with house prices in our lovely Victorian seaside town rising by more than 10% over 2018.
With a population of 32,000 Ryde is the biggest town on the island and the average home now costs £242,016 according to the property website Zoopla – that’s an increase of £22,500 over the last year.
Like all such statistics however, please treat with caution. The analysis by Zoopla looks at prices reported at HM Land Registry during the year compared to 2017, so the sale of a number of larger than typical houses in a 12 month period can shift the figures significantly and signal a boom – when a picture of steady and sustained prices is actually the real situation that we see on the ground.
Still – it’s nice to see Ryde get a good mention in the national press and we know it’s a great place to live, work or play which is what makes it a perennial island favourite.
